The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has launched a series of airstrikes, targeting terrorist strongholds in Zamfara and Kebbi States.

The strikes reportedly killed scores of insurgents and allowed several kidnapped victims to escape.

In a statement released on Sunday, NAF’s Director of Public Relations, Air Commodore Olusola Akinboyewa, confirmed that the operations followed intelligence reports of terrorist activities in the affected areas.

The strikes were carried out with the aid of advanced surveillance technology and precision targeting.

“NAF assets executed surprise aerial assaults on multiple camps, including the strategic Sangeko location in Zamfara, near the Kebbi border, and Ado Aleiro’s heavily fortified enclave in Tsafe Local Government Area,” the statement read.

Among the targets was a major arms depot belonging to the notorious bandit leader, Ado Aleiro. The airstrikes reportedly killed many of Aleiro’s fighters, while some victims held by the terrorists managed to escape during the chaos.

Survivors have since shared their accounts of the daring escape, making their way to safety in Kebbi State. NAF described the strikes as a significant blow to the terrorist networks operating in the region, reaffirming its commitment to restoring peace and security across Nigeria.

This latest operation is part of ongoing efforts by security forces to tackle the escalating violence in Nigeria’s north-west, where armed groups have carried out kidnappings, killings, and other attacks.
