The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command has commenced its second batch of arms training for 115 personnel in Abuja.
During the flag-off ceremony on Monday, FCT Commandant Dr. Olusola Odumosu highlighted the importance of the training, which aims to prepare officers for the challenges ahead. He noted that it would enhance their weapons-handling skills, essential for maintaining peace and safeguarding critical infrastructure in the nation’s capital.
“We are determined to continue protecting key assets in the FCT and to rid the city of vandals and miscreants disrupting the peace,” Odumosu said. “Your knowledge of weapons handling is pivotal to keeping the FCT safe, and this training must not be taken lightly.”
The Commandant stressed the importance of discipline and urged participants to fully engage with the course to reach the highest level of professional competence. He also reaffirmed the Corps’ commitment to maintaining a high standard of security through continuous patrols and surveillance.
Odumosu thanked FCT residents for their ongoing cooperation and called for increased support, particularly in providing credible intelligence to help prevent crime.
“Our overarching vision is to make critical infrastructure and national assets safe and secure,” he concluded, emphasizing the need for continuous training and teamwork.
