  • The initiative aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope Agenda”

The Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Abubakar Kyari, on Thursday inaugurated a state-of-the-art fish hatchery in Calabar, Cross River State.

The facility, which boasts the capacity to produce over 20 million juvenile fish annually, aims to boost food security and create jobs in Nigeria’s aquaculture sector.

The hatchery, supported by multiple stakeholders including the Federal Government, International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), and USAID’s Feed the Future Project, also features a laboratory, classrooms, and a research centre.

Kyari highlighted the project’s potential to drive youth and women’s employment, particularly in the South-South region, a critical area for Nigeria’s oil and fishery industries. The initiative aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope Agenda,” focused on advancing the nation’s agri-food system through innovation.
