  • CP Nadada has urged anyone who may have fallen victim to Idris to come forward and warned the public to be cautious of employment scams and the sharing of personal information on social media

The Nigerian police in Nasarawa State have arrested Yusuf Idris for allegedly defrauding job seekers by promising them employment in the Nigeria Police Force and Nasarawa State Hospital Management Board.

Idris, 33, from Obi Local Government Council, reportedly used the name of Commissioner of Police, CP Shehu Umar Nadada, to deceive victims into believing he had connections to secure them jobs.

According to DSP Ramhan Nansel, the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, Idris defrauded one Monday Akinde of N300,000 with the promise of securing him a position at the Nasarawa State Hospital Management Board.

He later convinced Akinde to recruit others for positions in the police force, claiming to have a job slot given to him by the CP, which he was willing to sell for N500,000.

To further his deception, Idris took the victim to the police headquarters, leaving him at the entrance while he entered the building, where he was eventually arrested. Police recovered two fake promotion letters and N300,000 in cash during a search.

CP Nadada has urged anyone who may have fallen victim to Idris to come forward and warned the public to be cautious of employment scams and the sharing of personal information on social media. He also cautioned others considering similar fraudulent activities that they will face legal consequences.
