  • The emergency security meeting was attended by top government officials, security agencies, community leaders and representatives of the Fulanis in the area.

Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo convened an emergency security meeting in Lokoja to address the escalating tensions between Isanlu indigenes and Fulani settlers.

The meeting aimed to listen to both parties and take necessary actions to ensure peace and security, preventing potential reprisal attacks.

According to State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Hon. Kingsley Fanwo, the meeting was successful, with both parties agreeing to embrace peace.

Fanwo stated that Governor Ododo cut short his trip to Abuja to address the “rising security temperatures in Isanlu”.

The Governor held a meeting with Isanlu and Fulani leaders, listening to their grievances and addressing them accordingly.

“He frowned upon the killing of fellow humans, deeming it unacceptable and warning that perpetrators would face the law’s full force.”

The Governor directed the interrogation of traditional rulers in affected areas and the suspension of one ruler due to their role in the saga.

Fanwo added that the Governor urged Isanlu leaders to warn their subjects against actions that compromise security in Yagba East and the Yagba Federal Constituency.

The Governor challenged the Isanlu community to sensitize their people on the need to stop constituting security threats and to report criminal elements to law enforcement agencies.

Governor Ododo promised to protect everyone in the state, emphasizing that no criminal would be spared.

The Governor commended the Fulanis for resisting the temptation to launch a reprisal attack, thanking them for demonstrating maturity and commitment to peace.

The emergency security meeting was attended by top government officials, security agencies, community leaders, and Fulani representatives.

The Chairman of the Local Government Area, Hon. Dare Joshua, thanked the Governor for his swift action in averting a major security breakdown.
