Police apprehend five suspected trans-border arms dealers, recover firearms

  • The PPRO noted that the IGP commended the operatives for their success and reiterated his directive for tactical units to intensify efforts against the proliferation of illegal arms.

The Nigeria Police Force has apprehended five suspected trans-border arms dealers and seized various firearms.

Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Force Public Relations Officer, disclosed in a statement on Friday that operatives of the FID-IRT made the arrests on November 18.

Adejobi identified the suspects as Adamu Noma, Matthew Audu, Andrew Poyi, Aminu Sani, and Aminu Talha.

According to Adejobi, upon arrest and search, “10 locally fabricated Ak-47 rifles, 5 Israeli Ak-47 rifles, 1 revolver pistol, 1 pump action rifle, 20 rounds of Ak-47 ammunition, and 1 welding machine for fabrication of rifles were recovered from the suspect.
