- Interior Minister Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo revealed this on Friday
The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has intercepted 14 internationally flagged individuals attempting to enter the country, Interior Minister Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo revealed on Friday.
Speaking in Abuja at the unveiling of the NIS Career Progression and Training Policy Framework (CPTF) and Gender Mainstreaming Policy, Dr Tunji-Ojo credited the Advanced Passenger Information (API) system for the success, noting it allows authorities to pre-screen travellers.
“Just yesterday, 14 flagged persons were stopped from entering Nigeria. Weeks ago, they would have entered unnoticed, but with the API system, we now act proactively,” he said.
The minister praised NIS personnel for their dedication and highlighted the importance of the newly launched policies in improving efficiency and inclusivity within the Service.
