  • Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed that all required documents have been submitted to the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN)

The Lagos State Government has denied claims of legal obstacles delaying the construction of an international airport in the Lekki area.

The airport, approved by the Federal Government in October 2022, aims to serve up to five million passengers annually and ease pressure on the Murtala Muhammed Airport.

Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed that all required documents have been submitted to the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), adding, “There are no legal encumbrances.”

Although the project has faced delays since its approval, Omotoso assured that funding would come through a public-private partnership, with private investors shouldering costs.

He emphasised that the project remains a priority for Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who has pledged to deliver it before the end of his tenure.

The airport is expected to stimulate economic growth and serve residents in the Lekki, Ajah, and Epe areas once completed.
