The police in Oyo State have detained the principal of Islamic High School, Bashorun, Ibadan, Mr. Abdullahi Fasasi.
It is gathered that Fasasi was invited by the police on Wednesday and has been detained since then.
According to Daily Post, the principal’s detention is not unconnected with the stampede that occurred at the school on Wednesday.
Within Nigeria had reported that no fewer than 32 children reportedly lost their lives as a result of the stampede that occurred in Ibadan yesterday.
The incident took place during a children’s carnival organized by Naomi Silekunola, an estranged wife of the Ooni of Ile-Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, held at Islamic High School, Bashorun, Ibadan.

The source, who pleaded anonymity, explained that the principal was detained upon arrival.
The source added that Fasasi is being held at the Criminal Investigation Department, CID, in the Iyaganku area.
As of the time of filing this report, the principal has not been released.
“The principal of the school, Mr. Abdullahi Fasasi, has been detained by the police.
“He was invited around 4:00 p.m. yesterday, and he honored the invitation.
“He has been detained since then. He has not been released,” the source said
