  • The former Anambra State governor added that no agreement has been established with other parties yet.

Peter Obi, Labour Party’s presidential candidate in 2023, has clarified that no merger deal has been made with the PDP, NNPP, or any other party.

He made this statement during a Thursday morning press conference in Abuja, addressing the state of the nation.

Obi emphasised that no agreement has been reached with other parties, and urged Nigerians to unite in 2027 to defeat the APC, which he accused of mismanaging resources.

The former Anambra state governor described Nigeria’s security situation as dire, citing needless deaths from banditry, terrorism, and kidnapping.

Obi noted that corruption remains high, and the cost of governance has led to a significant increase in public debt under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

He criticized government officials for mismanaging public funds through excessive foreign travel in 2024.

In the 2023 presidential election, Tinubu won 12 states, securing 8,794,726 votes, nearly two million more than his closest rival, Atiku Abubakar.

Atiku, a six-time presidential candidate, received 6,984,520 votes, while Obi secured 6,101,533 votes in his first presidential bid.

Rabiu Kwankwaso, NNPP’s candidate and former Kano State governor, finished fourth, winning his home state with 1,496,687 votes.

Notably, Obi and Kwankwaso were PDP members before the election but left due to irreconcilable differences.
