Efforts are ongoing to repatriate the migrants
Libya’s Department for Combating Illegal Migration (DCIM) has detained 54 migrants from various countries, including Nigeria, Chad, Ethiopia, and Somalia.
According to Migrant Rescue Watch, the detainees, comprising both men and women, were apprehended in Al-Jufra and transferred to the Brak Al-Shati Immigration Detention Centre as part of preparations for their repatriation.
The individuals were reportedly seeking to cross into Europe via the dangerous Mediterranean route. Libya remains a major transit hub for migrants attempting to reach Europe despite the significant risks involved.
Efforts are ongoing to repatriate the migrants, underscoring Libya’s role in regional migration management.
