  • The number of feeding centres will rise from 609 last year to 630, each serving three meals daily to 300 beneficiaries

The Jigawa State Government has allocated N4.8 billion for its 2025 Ramadan Feeding Programme to support vulnerable residents during the holy month.

Announcing the decision after a State Executive Council meeting in Dutse, the Commissioner for Information, Sagir Musa, said the programme would be funded by both state and local governments, with the state covering 55% and local councils contributing 45%.

The number of feeding centres will rise from 609 last year to 630, each serving three meals daily to 300 beneficiaries. Meals will include traditional dishes such as kunu, kosai, and jollof rice.

Musa said, “The council has approved a full package of three meals per individual, ensuring that vulnerable residents are well-supported during Ramadan.”

In addition to the feeding programme, the government has also approved a N9.7 billion revitalization project for 114 Primary Health Care Centres across the state.

The project, part of the World Bank-supported Immunization Plus and Malaria Progress for Accelerating Coverage and Transforming Services programme, aims to strengthen healthcare delivery and advance Universal Health Care coverage in Jigawa.

“This revitalization project underscores the government’s dedication to improving the well-being of Jigawa residents,” Musa added.

The initiatives highlight Jigawa State’s commitment to addressing food security and healthcare needs for its citizens.
