- He noted that “the avoidable media war, took the minds of majority of Nigerians off the critical issue of the N54.99 trillion 2025 budget President Tinubu signed into law Friday February 28”.
In response to the claims made by Kogi Central Senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, against Senate President Godswill Akpabio, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress member from Delta South, Chief Ayirimi Emami has urged moderation in their ongoing dispute.
While appearing recently on Arise News Morning Show, Akpoti-Uduaghan alleged that Akpabio was victimising her due to her refusal to accept his purported sexual propositions.
Nevertheless, Emami, in a Saturday statement, advised both legislators to halt their disagreements, asserting that critics of President Bola Tinubu’s government were eager to manipulate the issue and mislead citizens.
He pointed out that the “unnecessary media feud” had shifted attention from pressing concerns, especially President Tinubu’s approval of the N54.99 trillion budget for 2025 on Friday.
Emami underscored the necessity of prioritising the budget’s capacity to drive national development instead of the ongoing disagreement.
Emphasising the significance of safeguarding the Senate’s credibility, Emami disclosed that APC leaders in the South-South were actively engaged in resolving the conflict between Akpabio and Akpoti-Uduaghan.
He called for harmony between both parties for the country’s greater good, expressing optimism that the dispute would be settled soon through divine guidance and ancestral wisdom.
