The 26-year-old suspect has since been arrested for the crime which he committed in Bangi, Mariga Local Government Area of the State.
The State Police Public Relations Officer Wasiu Abiodun, made this known in a statement on Friday.
According to him, the incident occurred on January 27, 2025, at about 9 pm and was reported to officers at Bangi Division.
Abiodun explained that this led to the arrest of Mohammed, an unmarried farmer from Farar-Doka village, following a direct complaint that he defiled the child on January 26 at about 8:30 pm.
The police PRO revealed that the six-year-old victim had been sent on an errand to a nearby shop but returned late and in tears. Inquisition into her troubling state revealed the disturbing truth.
Abiodun stated that Mohammed accosted the child on her way back from the shop, took her to a nearby bush, and committed the crime.
The victim was taken to the General Hospital in Bangi for medical attention, while Mohammed was arrested and taken in for questioning.
“He confessed to the crime,” Abiodun disclosed.
“He has since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and prosecution.”
