The Nigerian police have ordered the eviction of all adults, except serving officers and their spouses, from the Dei Dei Police Barracks in Abuja, citing rising criminal activities.

The directive was issued by the Commissioner of Police Force Provost Marshal, Olusegun Eyitayo Omosanyin, on Thursday. A statement signed by Omosanyin described the situation as “alarming” and warned of serious consequences for those who fail to comply.

A 14-day notice was given, effective from January 30, 2025, requiring all individuals aged 18 and above to vacate the barracks by February 13.

“Incessant cases of criminal activities being recorded within the MD Abubakar Barracks are alarming,” the statement read. “Henceforth, all adults from 18 years and above, excluding serving policemen and their spouses, should vacate the barracks immediately.”
