- Addressing the criticisms, he described them as “baseless noise” from those lacking understanding
Senator John Azuta-Mbata, President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has firmly asserted that he will never deny his Igbo identity, dismissing recent criticisms against him as the result of misunderstandings.
Speaking during a courtesy visit by the Opobo Elder Statesmen-4-Sim in Port Harcourt on Monday, Azuta-Mbata reaffirmed his commitment to supporting Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara and respecting the governor’s office.
Addressing the criticisms, he described them as “baseless noise” from those lacking understanding. He stressed his role in building bridges and connecting people to broader platforms for development.
Azuta-Mbata further rejected claims questioning his Igbo ancestry, stating, “I’m not going to deny my Igbo identity. We are related. These criticisms will naturally die down.”
He also highlighted the importance of political inclusivity and unity, stressing that effective politics is played at the national level in Abuja.
