- Taiwo is one of only four Nigerians to have played for Marseille
Former Nigeria defender Taiwo Taiwo has been inducted into Ligue 1 club Olympique Marseille’s Hall of Fame.
The former European champions confirmed Taiwo’s induction on their X handle.
“Taye Taiwo is in the house tonight as the former Olympien and Super Eagle is inducted into the #OMLegends club,” the club stated.
Taiwo earned 54 caps for the Super Eagles between 2004 and 2011, scoring five goals.
Marseille was Taiwo’s first European club, where he spent six years, making 271 appearances, scoring 25 goals, and providing 23 assists.
He won Ligue 1, the League Cup, and the French Super Cup before moving to AC Milan in 2011.
Taiwo is one of only four Nigerians to have played for Marseille, alongside Wilson Oruma, Joseph Yobo, and Victor Agali.
