- Kanu is currently facing charges for terrorism leveled against him by the federal government.
Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court in Abuja has postponed Nnamdi Kanu’s trial indefinitely, citing “sine die.”
Kanu’s trial stalled after Justice Nyako recused herself on September 24, 2024, following Kanu’s request due to lack of confidence in her ability [1).
Nyako returned Kanu’s case file to Chief Judge John Tsoho, but Tsoho reassigned the case to Nyako, stating Kanu’s request must be formally submitted as a motion.
Kanu faces terrorism charges brought by the Federal Government and has been detained since his rearrest in Kenya and extraordinary rendition to Nigeria in 2021.
The prosecution, led by Adegboyega Awomolo, requested a trial date, while Kanu’s defense team, represented by Aloy Ejimakor, argued Nyako’s recusal should stand.
