- Egbetokun pledged the police force’s commitment to collaborating with the NCS
The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS) has announced plans to create an updated criminal database to enhance record-keeping and improve the efficiency of the correctional system.
Acting Comptroller-General Sylvester Ndidi disclosed this during a visit to Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun, according to a statement by police spokesperson Muyiwa Adejobi on Friday.
Ndidi emphasised that the initiative would provide a comprehensive record of offenders and their offences, strengthening the country’s criminal justice system. He also highlighted ongoing reforms aimed at transforming correctional facilities into centres for rehabilitation rather than mere confinement.
Egbetokun pledged the police force’s commitment to collaborating with the NCS to improve crime prevention and criminal justice processes. The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation between the two agencies to enhance law enforcement efforts nationwide.
