The draw allowed Bayern to maintain an eight-point lead over second-place Leverkusen, despite the latter’s strong pressure and missed opportunities
Super Eagles forward Victor Boniface remained on the bench as Bayer Leverkusen settled for a goalless draw against Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich on Saturday night.
His Nigerian teammate, Nathan Tella, played for 85 minutes as Leverkusen pushed for a winner but failed to break the deadlock.
Both teams had drawn their previous encounter in Munich last September, and history repeated itself in this fixture.
Defending champions Leverkusen missed the chance to close the gap at the top, allowing Bayern to maintain their eight-point lead in the Bundesliga.
Already through to the Champions League last 16, Leverkusen appeared fresher but lacked the finishing touch.
Meanwhile, Vincent Kompany’s Bayern will shift focus back to the Champions League play-offs. They hold a 2-1 advantage from the first leg against Celtic ahead of the return fixture.
