The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) have accused Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, of allegedly offering N30 billion to some leaders in Eha-Amufu, a community in Isi Uzo Local Government Area. IPOB said the payment was meant to secure communal land for Fulani settlement.
In a statement released on Saturday, IPOB’s Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, warned Mbah against the alleged deal. He stated that IPOB would not allow any Igbo land to be given to Fulani settlers.
“It is clear that Governor Peter Mbah and the Fulani Emirates have agreed to hand over Eha-Amufu’s ancestral land to Fulani settlers,” Powerful said.
He further alleged that Mbah, through a proxy, offered the N30 billion to community leaders. When they rejected the deal, the governor reportedly collaborated with Nigerian security forces, mainly the military, to facilitate a strategic invasion by Fulani groups.
“Currently, several Eha-Amufu communities face repeated Fulani attacks. Women are being gang-raped, farmers killed, and crops illegally harvested. People are being forced to abandon their homes, which these invaders then occupy,” Powerful claimed.
He also accused the governor, along with the Nigerian Army and Police, of remaining silent on the situation. According to IPOB, some parts of Eha-Amufu are now under Fulani control due to these invasions.
“IPOB will not allow selfish politicians to mortgage the future of Igbo generations just to stay in power. ESN operatives will continue to resist Fulani terrorists in Alaigbo (South-East) until they leave,” the statement added.
IPOB reaffirmed its stance against Fulani settlements in the South-East, emphasizing that it would take all necessary actions to protect Igbo land.
