Valentine Ozigbo, a former governorship candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in Anambra State, has announced his resignation from the party, citing a shift in his political direction and a commitment to broader goals for the state.

In a statement released on Wednesday, Ozigbo revealed that his decision followed extensive consultations with his supporters and political associates. He has formally communicated his resignation to the Labour Party’s National Chairman, Julius Abure, and its 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

Ozigbo, who initially ran for governor under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2021 before joining the Labour Party, expressed gratitude to Obi and other party leaders for their support. He reaffirmed his respect for their leadership and shared ideals, noting that his departure was not due to conflicts within the party but rather a strategic choice aligned with his vision for Anambra.

“I remain committed to the development of Anambra State and will continue to explore avenues to contribute meaningfully to the state’s progress,” Ozigbo stated.
