Suspected Herdsmen Kill Two Farmers in Edo State

  • Edo State Police Command spokesperson, CSP Moses Yamu, confirmed the incident

Two farmers have been killed by suspected armed herdsmen in Okpekpe, a community in Etsako East Local Government Area of Edo State.

The victims, identified as Batemue Philip Ebo and Christopher Bello, were ambushed and attacked while on their way to the farm on Monday morning.

Edo State Police Command spokesperson, CSP Moses Yamu, confirmed the incident, stating that the Chief of Okpekpe reported the attack to the authorities around 9 a.m. on Monday.

“The command received a report today at about 0900hrs from the Chief of Okpekpe that two of his subjects were attacked and killed in their farms by suspected herdsmen,” Mr Yamu said.

He added that the Divisional Police Officer and mobile police officers deployed to Uzanu responded to the scene and discovered the victims’ lifeless bodies.

According to Mr Yamu, security measures in the area have been reinforced to track down the attackers and prevent further incidents.

“We have reviewed security arrangements in the area to pursue the criminals and prevent a recurrence,” he said.
