Kayode Egbetokun, the inspector general of police, has approved assigning six recently promoted deputy inspectors-general of police to crucial departments within the force for enhanced operations.
In a statement released on Sunday, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the force’s spokesperson, stated that the restructuring aims to harness senior officers’ experience for a more effective security strategy.
Egbetokun reiterated the force’s steadfast dedication to safeguarding citizens and voiced confidence that these assignments will bolster its capacity to achieve this vital responsibility.
“DIG Sadiq Idris Abubakar, mni., has been posted to the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), while DIG Benjamin Nebolisa Okolo, fdc., will now head the Force Intelligence Department (FID),” the statement reads.
“DIG Williams Adebowale fdc., assumes responsibility for the Department of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), and DIG Bzigu Yakubu Kwazi, mni., takes charge of the Department of Operations (DOPs).”
“DIG Adebola Ayinde Hamzat has been assigned to the Department of Logistics and Supply (DLS), and DIG Idegwu Basil Okuoma will lead the Department of Research and Planning (R&P).”
“In addition to these newly appointed DIGs, the IGP has also ordered the reassignment of DIG Sahabo Abubakar Yahaya as the new DIG for the Department of Finance and Administration (DFA).”
Egbetokun conveyed confidence in the senior officers’ capability to perform well in leadership positions and contribute significantly to the overall efficiency of the force.
The IGP reiterated the force’s dedication to strategic reassignment efforts focused on maximising personnel efficiency and strengthening overall operational productivity.
