- The president stated that he had made several efforts, both privately and publicly, to address the matter and restore peace in the oil-rich state
President Bola Tinubu has bared his mind on the protracted political crisis in Rivers State.
Tinubu, who said he foresaw the crisis, underscored the importance of rule of law in resolving the crisis.
He made this known during a meeting with leaders of the Pan Niger Delta Forum, PANDEF, at the Council Chamber of the State House, Abuja.
He implored PANDEF to return home and work towards peace within the ambit of the law, particularly as the Supreme Court had already ruled on the matter.
The president stated that he had made several efforts, both privately and publicly, to address the matter and restore peace in the oil-rich state.
He stated the ruling of the Supreme Court must be adhered to as it is the final arbiter in the matter.
Tinubu stated: “I should not be here as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria if there is no rule of law.
“I have total confidence in our judiciary. Human beings can make errors, but once the Supreme Court has spoken, that is it.”
The state governor, Siminalayi Fubara, on Tuesday, pledged to implement all rulings of the apex court to ensure peace is restored in the state.
