- Osagie praised the governor’s sincerity, acknowledging his leadership and dedication to Edo’s development after being cleared of allegations.
Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State, has lifted the suspension of Samson Osagie, the attorney general and commissioner for justice, allowing him to return to office.
Recall that on February 5, Osagie, along with Damian Lawani, chairman of the Edo Local Government Service Commission, was suspended following accusations related to financial misconduct.
Osagie firmly stated that he was ready to defend himself thoroughly, emphasising his innocence and maintaining that he had not engaged in any financial wrongdoing.
A letter issued by Umar Ikhilor, the secretary to the state government (SSG), on March 12, confirmed that the investigative panel’s findings “completely exonerated Osagie of financial infractions.”
“Having considered the report of the Investigative panel set up by the government to investigate financial infractions against you, which has exonerated you completely,” the letter reads.
“I write to convey the directive of the Governor of Edo State, His Excellency, Sen. Monday Okpebholo, that you resume duties as Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice immediately.”
Osagie, in response, lauded the governor’s integrity and vision for Edo State, acknowledging his leadership and unwavering commitment to the state’s development.
“This clearly indicates that His Excellency, Sen. Monday Okpebholo, means well for Edo State,” he said.
“I use this medium to reaffirm my commitment and loyalty to his administration.
“I remain dedicated to supporting him in ensuring Edo recovers lost ground and achieves its rightful place among leading states in Nigeria.”
