  • Recall that the electoral commission had fixed August 16 for by-elections in all 12 states across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones.
  • The PDP said victory in the by-elections will strengthen its grassroots influence and democratic participation nationwide.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will on Thursday, July 3, begin selling expression of interest and nomination forms for outstanding by-elections in 12 states.

This was announced in a statement on Wednesday by the national publicity secretary, Debo Ologunagba, in Abuja.

He said the PDP national working committee (NWC) had approved the timetable and schedule of activities for the by-elections.

According to Ologunagba, sale of forms will end on July 10, while submission of completed forms has been fixed for July 11.

“The NWC assures all party leaders, critical stakeholders and teeming members of the PDP of a transparent and credible nomination as we march to victory in the by-elections,” he said.

The independent national electoral commission (INEC) has scheduled the by-elections to hold on August 16 across the affected constituencies.

Elections will take place in Anambra South senatorial district and Onitsha North state constituency in Anambra state.
