  • New members are being taught party doctrine to help them align with the ADC’s constitution and values.
  • Defectors must follow structured entry—starting from ward level to local government and then state leadership.

The chairman of the African Democratic Congress in Zamfara, Kabiru Garba, has invited the governor of the state, Dauda Lawal, to join the party.

Garba made the call on Friday while addressing journalists at a press conference in Gusau.

He said no fewer than 100 political actors from different parties in Zamfara had already joined the ADC.

“We want to extend a formal invitation to Gov. Dauda Lawal to join the party to bring more development to the state,” he said

“Doors are widely open to receive all defectors irrespective of their positions. We want to assure every one of our readiness to give both new and old members equal treatment for effective democratic process.”

The party chairman said the new wave of defections was due to what he described as “justice, fairness and equal opportunity” under the ADC’s leadership.

“We have received over 100 political actors from various political parties, and we are giving them orientation on the party doctrine to enable them know how to go about their political activities within the party constitution,” he said.

He explained that the party expects all defectors to follow the laid-down structure of joining through ward, local government and then state leadership.

“All intended defectors should come through their ward leadership before reaching local government, then state up to federal level.”

Garba said grassroots mobilisation remains a core strategy for the ADC in reflecting the people’s mandate.

“We believe in recognising grassroots politics because that’s the best way to reflect the mandate of the electorate,” he added.
