The governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Saturday voted in the state’s ongoing local government elections.
The governor and his wife, Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, arrived at polling units 06 and 07 located at St. Stephen Nursery and Primary School on Adeniji Adele Road, Lagos Island, around 11am.
Sanwo-Olu cast his vote at exactly 11:28am.
The elections are being held to fill chairmanship, vice-chairmanship, and councillorship positions across the 20 LGAs and 37 LCDAs in Lagos State.
On Friday, Sanwo-Olu appealed to youths in the state to reject violence during the local government elections.
Sanwo-Olu also implored political stakeholders, candidates and party agents to maintain order and adhere to the principles of law and fairness.
He encouraged eligible voters to come out en masse, stating that the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission had assured him of its preparedness.
“The local government is the closest tier of government to the people and plays a vital role in delivering essential services and fostering grassroots development,he said.”
He noted that the election provides a platform for Lagosians to choose local representatives who would serve their interests.
