  • The suspects reportedly confessed to being core members of a robbery gang operating across Ibadan and neighbouring areas.
  • Three victims have positively identified the suspects as those who robbed them during separate one-chance incidents.

The Oyo state police command has arrested two suspected members of a ‘one-chance’ robbery gang terrorising residents of Ibadan.

The police said the arrest was made after operatives acted on actionable intelligence and launched a tactical operation against the suspects.

The Command said the operation followed the circulation of a viral video that showed the gang’s criminal activities in the state capital.

“Following the emergence of a viral video exposing the gang’s activities, the Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Police Command, tasked operatives of the Command’s Tactical Units to apprehend the culprits,” the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Chief Superintendent of Police Adewale Osifeso, said in a statement.

“The teams promptly activated their informant networks and launched an intensive search for the gang members.

“Their efforts paid off on July 12, 2025, when intelligence available to the Command Monitoring Unit revealed the whereabouts of suspected one-chance robbers.

“At around 3:30pm that day, officers from the Unit tracked and located the suspects on the Old Ibadan/Oyo Road,” Osifeso added.

He said the suspects are 42-year-old Kolawole Moshood from Olomoyeye Muslim area and 45-year-old Opeyemi Kuburat from Beyerunka area, both in Ibadan.

Osifeso said the police recovered a Nissan Almera vehicle with registration number Lagos FST 779 DL allegedly used by the suspects during their operations.

“Upon interrogation, the duo confessed to being key members of a one-chance robbery gang operating in Ibadan and its environs.

“They further admitted to robbing and deceiving multiple victims using the seized vehicle,” he said.

He said the suspects are currently in custody and assisting the police with their investigation.

Osifeso added that three victims had so far identified the suspects as the people who robbed them on different occasions.

“The investigation is ongoing to identify and apprehend other gang members and recover their weapons,” he said.

He urged other victims to step forward and assist the police with information that would help in the prosecution of the suspects.

“Your cooperation can play a vital role in bringing more offenders to justice and protecting our communities,” Osifeso said.
