  • Suspects were under surveillance for weeks before EFCC carried out the operation near BUK new site.
  • All 25 individuals arrested are confirmed to be BUK undergraduate students, EFCC spokesperson discloses.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has arrested 25 undergraduate students of Bayero University, Kano, over alleged involvement in internet fraud.

The anti-graft agency said the suspects were apprehended on Monday opposite the new site of the institution.

The Head of Media and Publicity of the EFCC, Dele Oyewale, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday.

He said the arrest followed actionable intelligence that linked the students to various forms of cybercrime.

The commission said items recovered during the raid included mobile phones, laptops, internet routers and a Honda Accord.
