- Medaner claimed opposition parties lacked proper organisation and only focused on media noise rather than election-winning strategies.
- He argued Atiku had no formidable support base capable of securing nationwide votes despite clinching his party’s presidential ticket.
A former organising secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Professor Ussiju Medaner, has said former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar only knows how to clinch presidential tickets.
Medaner stated that Atiku does not have the kind of political structure or people who can help him win a general election.
He made the remark on Friday while speaking on Arise Television’s Morning Show programme.
Medaner was reacting to a question about claims from APC leaders that the opposition, particularly the African Democratic Congress, was only making noise.
He said, “If you look at some of the opposition activities it’s just making noise. They are not putting their house in order.
“Election is not just making noise. Election is thinking.
“Some of the opposition, like Atiku Abubakar, he knows how to get ticket but he doesn’t have those people that can win general election.
“I was in CPC and supported Buhari but we didn’t have those that could win the election, that was the problem.
“I think you need to have those that can win the election.”
Medaner insisted that political victory comes through planning, strategy, and the presence of people capable of converting popularity into actual votes.
He said many opposition groups lacked the structure required to translate ambition into electoral victory at the national level.
