- The 2023 PDP presidential candidate added that the coalition is not built around individual political gladiators
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has revealed the real reason behind the formation of the opposition coalition led by the African Democratic Congress, ADC.
Atiku stated that the ADC is not formed for anyone and does not revolve around anyone, adding that its emergence was inspired by the desire to save Nigeria from the misrule and incompetence of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
There are speculations that the intense competition for the coalition’s 2027 presidential ticket among the top politicians is causing division in the ADC.
However, the 2023 PDP presidential candidate added that the coalition is not built around individual political gladiators like himself, Peter Obi, Rotimi Amaechi, or Nasir El-Rufai.
He stated that the main objective of the coalition is to rescue Nigeria’s democracy from what he described as the ruling party’s creeping authoritarianism and manipulation of the electoral process.
According to him, this goal is centred on protecting the integrity of Nigeria’s democracy, which, according to him, is under threat from the All Progressives Congress, APC, administration.
“This is not an anti-Tinubu project; it is a pro-Nigerian movement. Nigerians must be the ultimate beneficiaries of this effort,” he stated
