  • The lawmakers said they will mobilise and campaign for Tinubu, as well as galvanise all the structures of the party in the state to make sure he wins.

Members of the Plateau State House of Assembly have said they will work relentlessly for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu.

The members, who unanimously endorsed the president ahead of the 2027 general elections, on Wednesday also warned opposition parties not to bother coming to the State to campaign for the 2027 presidential election.

The lawmakers announced the endorsement during a solidarity visit to the new Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda in Abuja on Tuesday.

They declared that the ruling APC has already won the state in advance, noting that it will be foolhardy for any opposition parties to campaign in the State.

During the visit, Speaker of the Assembly, Daniel Naanlanlon Gapyil said the lawmakers will do everything and anything to make sure Tinubu wins the State.

Gapyil noted that despite the state being governed by a PDP governor, the APC is strong enough to defeat the incumbent from office due to the gale of defections from the PDP to the APC in recent times.

Emphasising the strength of the APC in the state, Gapyil said the structures to return Tinubu in 2027 have been put in place.

“Though it might sound strange to people who are not conversant with the strength of the party, a lot of work is being done underground to see that the ruling party becomes a dominant force,” he added.

The Speaker also assured the new APC national chairman that as far as the House is concerned, there is no other party in the state apart from the APC and it would be foolhardy for other political parties to contemplate coming to the state to campaign.

Responding, Yilwatda urged the lawmakers to extend their dominance beyond Plateau to win the election for Tinubu, insisting that the APC is still the right party to fix Nigeria’s problems.

He also urged them to do everything possible to wrest power from the PDP and return Plateau to the APC
