- ADC interim chairman says 35% of leadership seats are reserved for women to promote meaningful inclusion in the party structure.
- Youths under 40 will occupy core leadership roles to increase youth participation in party activities and national development.
The interim national chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Senator David Mark, says the party will not allow any form of indiscipline.
Mark spoke on Monday during a national executive committee meeting of the ADC held in Abuja.
He said his leadership would uphold internal democracy and ensure collective decisions guide the affairs of the party.
The former senate president promised to run the party with integrity, vision, and transparency.
He commended the former national chairman, Chief Ralph Nwosu, for his patriotism and leadership, and for relinquishing his position in national interest.
Mark also applauded loyal members of the ADC, assuring them of a fair and inclusive administration.
“I assure you that under my leadership, we shall be committed to full democratic practices and principles that abhor imposition and special privileges.
“Internal democracy, transparency, and accountability will be our mantra,” he said.
The interim chairman said leadership at all levels would be collective and transparent.
He disclosed plans to create a professional structure for managing the party’s bureaucracy and to establish sustainable financing models.
He said the ADC would restructure and energise its leadership from the grassroots to the national level.
According to him, youths and women will not be sidelined in leadership and decision-making within the party.
”Our policies, nominations, and leadership roles will reflect meaningful inclusion of youths and women and not just tokenism,” he said.
He revealed that the party had reserved 35 per cent of its leadership positions for women.
He added that young people under the age of 40 would occupy key positions in the party.
Mark said a new constitution and manifesto review would soon be carried out by special committees to reflect public expectations.
“We shall clearly articulate what we stand for.
“Nigerians must know us as a party driven by unblemished ideology, progressive policies, and patriotic governance,” he said.
He added that candidates would no longer be allowed to run independently of the party’s core values.
The interim chairman said a 50-member policy committee would soon be inaugurated to develop policies across key national sectors.
He said the policy committee would focus on health, education, agriculture, economy, infrastructure, technology, and security.
He urged all Nigerians to join the ADC, which he described as a party that guarantees equal opportunity for all citizens.
He also encouraged members of the ADC to return to their polling units and work from the grassroots.
