Gunmen ‘kill’ two in Ogun robbery attack

..two others sustained bullet injuries

  • The incident occurred at parking lot of Diamond Dumplings, GRA, Abeokuta.
  • The police spokesperson hinted that preliminary investigation had been initiated to examine the factors leading to the two deaths.

Gunmen allegedly shot and killed two individuals and injured two others in Abeokuta, Ogun’s capital.

Omolola Odutola, police spokesperson, issued a statement on Monday, revealing the incident occurred in Diamond Dumplings’ GRA parking lot.

According to the police, three armed men in an unregistered black Toyota Hilux intercepted a black Mercedes Benz GLE 350, demanding its keys.

“The incident occurred at about 12:30a.m in the parking lot of Diamond Dumplings, GRA, Abeokuta,” NAN quoted Odutola as saying.

“Three armed men in an unregistered black Toyota Hilux confronted the occupants of a black Mercedes Benz GLE 350 with a DLA license plate, demanding the car keys.

“The assailants opened fire, hitting one Ola (surname unknown) and one Shobanke Oluwatimileyin and two others.

“The Divisional Police Officer from Ibara, responding to distress calls, arrived at the scene and secured the area before rushing victims to the hospital.

“Upon arrival, the attending doctor confirmed two fatalities, while two others receive treatment at Federal Medical Centre, Idi Aba, Abeokuta.”

Odutola stated that investigators are probing the double fatalities and potential cult connections.

She assured that the manhunt for remaining suspects would continue, with public updates on investigation progress forthcoming.
