Police in Nigeria have intercepted a vehicle transporting 13 human trafficking victims in Kaduna State and arrested three suspects, authorities say.
The suspects—identified as Samson Peter, 25, Haruna Duniya, 45, and Abdulazaq Olawole, 58—were allegedly trafficking the victims to Oyo State in an unmarked vehicle.
Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said the victims were rescued and that an investigation was ongoing.
In a separate incident on 29 January, police in Ogun State raided a kidnappers’ den following a reported abduction.
A gunfight ensued, leaving five suspected gang members dead, while three kidnapped victims were rescued.
Authorities said police recovered arms, ammunition, three mobile phones, and 5.2 million naira in cash. Vehicles belonging to the victims were also found at the scene.
Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun commended the officers for their “gallantry and dedication to duty” and reassured the public of the force’s commitment to tackling security threats.
