Ekiti state police command have disclosed that some soldiers have been arrested over the alleged killing of an operative of the Department of State Services (DSS).

This development was confirmed on Saturday by the police public relations officer in the state, Sunday Abutu.

According to Abutu, the DSS operative was murdered in a hotel in Ado Ekiti, the state capital, on Friday night.

Abutu said the detective was killed during an argument with some soldiers.

It was, however, not clear what led to the argument between the soldiers and the DSS officer.

The police spokesman added that the corpse of the deceased has been deposited at the morgue, while the officers alleged to be involved have been arrested.

“I can confirm we heard that the DSS operative was killed during a hot argument with some soldiers yesterday (Friday) evening,” he said.

“The deceased’s corpse has been deposited in the morgue and I can assure you that the perpetrators of the murder have also been arrested.

“Let me also add that our detectives have started investigation and we will get to the root of the matter.”

This development comes less than a year after Nigerians protested against brutality of security personnel.
