The Nigeria Police has confirmed the killing of the daughter of Pa Fasoranti, the National Leader of the Yoruba socio-cultural organisation, Mrs. Funke Olakunrin by persons suspected to be fulani herdsmen.

The spokesperson of the Ondo State Police Command, Femi Joseph, however told Newsmen that “We have not established whether the woman is related to Pa Fasoranti or not.”

He disclosed that some other passengers were kidnapped during the incident, which happened on Friday.

Narrating how the incident happened, the PPRO stated that the hoodlums struck on the Benin-Sagamu Expressway.

He added that the attack involved two vehicles, one of which was shot at by the attackers.

“What happened was that the hoodlums attacked two vehicles, one Toyota Land Cruiser which was conveying the deceased and four others.

“When we (police) got to the scene, we rushed her to the hospital, unfortunately we lost her.

“The hoodlums also attacked a vehicle belonging to Young Shall Grow carrying about four passengers who were abducted by the attackers.

“We were able to rescue all those that were kidnapped except one passenger who is still being held.

“But our men are already in the bush working to rescue the hostage and apprehend the perpetrators,” the PPRO stated.

It was gathered that the 58-year-old woman was heading for Akure, Ondo State from Lagos when she was attacked and shot by the herdsmen.

Her domestic staff in the car was also said to have sustained gunshots wounds.
