Tragedy struck Amukpe community in Sapele area council of Delta state as a brother in-law, Pius was reportedly shot dead by an angry husband for sleeping with his wife.
Newsmen gathered that the wife confessed to her husband that she’s having an affair with her husband’s biological brother, Pius which later led to fight resulted into burning of two houses.
Having heard his wife’s confession, the husband became angry, took his gun and went to the late brother in-law’s house to fight which led to shooting between the duo.
The armed in-law was allegedly challenged by the deceased and he received a bullet in his left eye and died instantly.
Relatives of the wife stormed the residence of the deceased, Pius and set it ablaze as gathered by newsmen.
Witnesses claimed that the prompt intervention of security operatives saved the situation from escalating.
Meanwhile, the Delta State Police Command has confirmed the development, stating that a manhunt has begun for the runaway husband.
The Commissioner of Police, Adeyinka Adeleke, who spoke via mobile phone said “I heard of it. That man shot his brother in-law dead at Amukpe in Sapele because they said his wife was sleeping with his brother. And so, they went to burn down his brother’s house and in turn, they burnt down the in-law’s house. We are looking for the man.”
