Unknown gunmen have allegedly opened fire on travellers around Rigasa train station in Kaduna state on Friday, January 24.

According to local reports, the travellers were about boarding vehicles to their various destination after arriving Kaduna from Abuja before the bandits allegedly struck.

As at the time of reportage, it is unclear and not ascertained if anyone was kidnapped in the attack but a security source told newsmen that vehicles were abandoned by motorists by the roadside during the attack.

The security source said;

“When the 6:30pm train from Abuja arrived Kaduna around 8pm, the passengers disembarked. Some of them proceeded to their destinations but those who tried to connect the town through the Rigasa-Airport road came under gunfire from suspected bandits.”

Recall that the Emir of Potiskum in Yobe state was kidnapped in Kaduna state and close aides were killed by gunmen some days ago.
