The Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) has responded to reports that palm oil cures Coronavirus.

Debunking the report, the health agency declared that the claim is false, as palm oil does not have the ability to stop the spread of the virus.

The agency further urged Nigerians to adhere only to guidelines from health authorities.

NCDC tweeted;

“The claim that drinking palm oil can stop the spread of #COVID19 is FALSE

“To protect yourselves and loved ones from #COVID19 please adhere to guidance from public health authorities and avoid the spread of false information.”

In other news, Nigeria on Thursday recorded 204 new cases of coronavirus, its highest daily figure since the first case was recorded in February.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) announced new cases via its twitter page, bringing the country’s total infections to 1,932.

The newly-reported cases, as revealed via the Centre on Thursday evening, shows that Kano has the highest number with 80 cases, followed by Lagos with 45 cases.

The country also recorded seven deaths from the disease on Thursday, bringing the total number of deaths to 58.
