We adopted INEC COVID-19 election protocols for our LG polls, CROSIEC reveals

Cross Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission has revealed that the commission adopted INEC Covid-19 election protocols for the state local government polls.

The commission stated that local government election was held in Cross River State despite the COVID-19 pandemic and the restrictions.

The state chairman of the Cross River State Independent Electoral Commission, Mike Ushie explained that the commission adopted and strictly followed the Covid-19 election protocols recently released by INEC for elections in Edo and Ondo.

According to him and as our reported observed there was adherence to physical distancing, provision of hand sanitizers and water for hand washing with soap.

Ushie noted that he was happy at the crisis-free local government election particularly after a number of postponements over five years.

He revealed that five political parties were participating in the polls, including the governing People’s Democratic Party and the leading a factional group of the leading All Progressive Congress in the state.

The chairman of the electoral body disclosed that announcement of election results from the 18 local government areas if the state will commenced by 10.am on Sunday.

PDP chairman in the state, Ntufam Edim Inok Edim also expressed satisfaction in the conduct of the polls adding that Cross River State is undoubtedly a PDP state so we are sure of scoring 18 over 18.
