Crisis erupted between the authority of the Guaranty Trust Bank and some aggrieved customers which resulted to physical fights at one of the branches of Guaranty Trust Bank in Osogbo, the capital of Osun state on Wednesday, June 16th.

WITHIN NIGERIA learnt that the fight started between the security officers stationed at the bank premises and some customers who came to transact with the bank as usual at GTBank opposite Osogbo Township Stadium, led to vandalization of glass on the wall.

According to an eyewitness report, the trouble started when customers complained of extortion from the security officers.

The customers alleged that the security men were demanding between N500 to N1000 from customers before allowing them entry into the banking hall.

Narrating how the incident occurred, the eyewitness said the aggrieved customers confronted the security officer over extortion but they were resisted violently by the officer which aggravated issues.

A source disclosed that normalcy was restored at the bank premises after police officers whisked away the alleged bank officers.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Yemisi Opalola confirmed the incident.

Opalola said; “two suspects have been arrested and further investigation is ongoing on the matter”.
