Lady raped to death in Akinyele days after rearrest of serial killer in the community; Mother, youths lament

Another lady identified as Mary Daramola has been allegedly raped and murdered in Akinyele area of Ibadan.

This is coming on the heel of the rearrest of the Ibadan Suspected serial killer, Sunday Shodipe.

The recent Killing raised the suspicion that the notorious Sunday Shodipe is not the only criminal operating in the community.

WITHIN NIGERIA had earlier reported how Shodipe was re-arrested earlier in the week after he escaped from police custody on August 11.

The recent victim, Daramola was allegedly raped and killed at Alabata community, near Moniya, in Akinyele Local Government.

Sources in the community disclosed that a passer-by, who noticed the gang when they were trying to dump Mary’s corpse at a nearby bush, raised an alarm which resulted in the arrest of one Toheeb Ako, who was then taken to Moniya Police Station.

Also speaking, Mary’s guardian, Mrs Folakemi Adedeji expressed sadness over the horrible incident and called for justice to serve as deterrent to rapists in the state.

Baale of Alabata, Chief Olakanmi Olaniyan

The Baale of Alabata, Chief Olakanmi Olaniyan, who appealed to the youths to be calm since the Nigeria police and other local security agents were already handling the incident.

Chief Olaniyan assured the residents of Alabata of adequate security of their lives and property.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Oyo State Mr. Olugbenga Fadeyi who confirmed the incident told newsmen that it happened on Monday, August 24.

He said a suspect has been arrested over the incident, adding that he has been transferred to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) for investigation.

Recall that Shodipe, who was alleged to have killed up to five persons at Akinyele Local Government Area was arrested for most of the killings.

He also confessed to killing a woman after he escaped from police custody.
