Pictures of more than 5100 card readers destroyed after a mysterious and massive fire reportedly engulfed the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Akure, the Ondo state capital on Friday have surfaced online.

This is coming barely one month to the gubernatorial election in the state.

According to an eyewitness, the mysterious fire which started around 8:55pm razed a large container where the cards were stored.

WITHIN NIGERIA had earlier reported that fire gutted the Ondo State Office of the Independent National Electoral Commission on Thursday.

Recall that Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo state today visited the state headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) gutted by fire and described the incident as unfortunate and shocking.

The fire incident which gutted the office at about 830pm burnt over 5114 card readers meant for the October 10 governorship election in the state.
