A fresh court order to restrain the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) from embarking on the planned nationwide strike has been secured by the federal government.

This order was given by a judge of the National Industrial Court, Ibrahim Galadima while ruling on an ex parte application brought by the office of the attorney-general of the federation.

The application to restrain the NLC and TUC was moved by acting director of the department civil litigation of the Federal ministry of justice,  Maimuna Shiru and Tijjani Galazi on behalf of the federal government.

Recall on Thursday that the same judge had also granted an ex parte order in favour of the Incorporated Trustees of Peace and Unity Ambassadors Association, stopping both unions from going on with the strike scheduled for Monday.

The TUC and NLC had jointly declared to embark on an indefinite strike over the recent hike in the pump price of petrol and electricity tariff.

Other unions such as the National Union of Banks, Insurance and Financial Institutions Employees (NUBIFIE), the Joint Action Front (JAF), Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) have also declared their interest to join in the strike.
