The Nigeria Police has dismissed and demoted some former members of the disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).
WITHIN NIGERIA recalls that after the IGP’s announcement, disbanding the ‘notorious’ unit, CSP Dolapo Badmus, a former Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, took to Instagram to rejoice, writing: “MY PEOPLE!!!. You won’t know how happy I am now!!!!! History was made today, a new birth occurred.
The Police Service Commission (PSC) is expected to order the prosecution of 24 other ex-SARS operatives for various acts of misconduct.
Names and service numbers of those sanctioned became public on Saturday.
Abayomi Shogunle, a former Head of the Public Complaint Rapid Response Unit (PCRRU), and a former Police Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Command, Dolapo Badmos were demoted.
