Nigeria records 310 new COVID-19 cases

As the battle against Coronavirus continues, Nigeria has recorded 310 new cases of the deadly virus in 9 states and the federal capital territory, Abuja.

This was disclosed by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) via its daily update for Saturday, December 5.

According to the states breakdown, the FCT recorded 128 new positive samples, Lagos was next with 86 infections, followed by Kaduna with 26.

Other states with cases were listed as follows: “Katsina (20), Rivers (19), Oyo (7), Benue (5), Edo (5), Jigawa (5), Ogun (5), Bayelsa (2) and Kano (2)”.

Reports revealed that one person was confirmed to have died of COVID-19 complications on Saturday, increasing the fatality toll to 1,180.

Lagos currently has the most deaths with 227 fatalities, followed by Edo with 112, and FCT with 83.

However, out of 183 new recoveries confirmed by the NCDC, 123 patients were discharged in Lagos.

Out of 68,937 COVID-19 cases confirmed across the country, 65,650 patients have recovered, while 3,114 are still active cases.

FCT leads the list of most active infections with 880 patients; Lagos comes next with 465 cases, while Oyo follows with 329 — Kogi is currently the only state with no positive sample of the coronavirus.
