Zamfara State Government has revoked the operational licences of more than 500 private schools in the state for their inability to achieve operational objectives.

Ibrahim Abdullahi, the state Commissioner for Education, in an interview with journalists on Tuesday, said a committee would be inaugurated to enforce compliance with the revocation.

He did not explain the operational objectives which every private school must achieve to qualify for operation in the state.

“All private schools owners must abide by the development before the issuance of a license to operate as a full registered school,” he warned.

The commissioner recalled the state governor, Bello Matawalle’s displeasure that poorly-structured private schools operating in the state be charged N30,000 enrolment fee for every pupil enrolled.

“At this stage, the ministry has drafted a bill to the state house of assembly that will empower the state ministry of education to exercise total control on such private schools that are ready to operate” he announced.
